Sumatra is known for its wet hulling process (giling basah). This coffee is unique thanks to mill operator Asman Arianto who through his Ribang Gayo Musara mill is helping local producers expand the capabilities for processing methods in the Aceh region of Sumatra. This micro lot coffee has been naturally processed which is difficult in this region because of high humidity and cloud cover. The results however are fresh and intense new flavors from this part of the world.

In Sumatra the average farm is very small, between 0.5 to 2.5 hectares. Because of this cooperatives are essential for small farmers to make an income. Thats where people like Asman Arianto come in to play. He formed the Ribang Gayo Musara Cooperative with the goal of helping these small farmers producing incredible coffees to get a fair wage for their product. As well as introduction and helping these producers to explore new processing methods.
